Borealis and Borouge launch Recleo™: Expanding Access to Cost-Effective Recycled Polyolefins

Borealis, together with Borouge, has announced the launch of Recleo™, a new global brand for mechanically recycled polyolefin solutions. The Recleo™ portfolio brings together post-industrial (PIR) and post-consumer (PCR) recyclates and compounds, offering customers a cost-effective and reliable way to increase recycled content and support circular economy goals.

A unified portfolio for sustainable applications

Recleo™ unites a wide range of mechanically recycled polyolefins in one global portfolio, designed for a broad spectrum of applications including mobility, building and construction, appliances, infrastructure, and consumer goods. By consolidating these solutions under one brand, Borealis and Borouge make it easier for customers to identify fit-for-purpose recycled materials while maintaining consistent quality and performance.

The portfolio complements the Borcycle™ M range of premium mechanically recycled polyolefins, which is based exclusively on post-consumer waste and developed for the most demanding applications. Together, Recleo™ and Borcycle™ M provide a comprehensive offering that covers the full range of customer requirements, from cost-efficient solutions to high-performance recycled materials.

Supporting sustainability and regulatory compliance

Grades within the Recleo™ portfolio are produced from verified PIR and PCR waste streams, helping customers reduce their carbon footprint while keeping valuable materials in circulation. Many Recleo™ grades are RecyClass certified and manufactured in accordance with the IATF 16949 quality management standard.

Recleo™ also supports compliance with evolving regulatory frameworks, including upcoming requirements under the EU Packaging and Packaging Waste Regulation (PPWR) and the End-of-Life Vehicle Regulation (ELVR), enabling customers to meet both current and future sustainability targets.

Global availability and reliable supply

Backed by Borealis and Borouge’s global production and distribution network, Recleo™ offers security of supply and consistent quality worldwide. The materials are designed to work seamlessly in combination with Borealis and Borouge virgin polyolefins, enabling higher recycled content and enhanced circularity across a wide range of processing technologies, particularly in film and extrusion applications.

A strong addition to our sustainable materials offering

At Plastoplan Polymers, we are proud to collaborate with leading suppliers such as Borealis, who continue to invest in innovative circular solutions. The launch of Recleo™ strengthens our ability to support customers in achieving their sustainability goals while maintaining performance, reliability, and cost efficiency.
